March 9, at 9:28 p.m my third niece was born. Each niece is a treasure, but this one was born to my baby sister. I have always babied, cared for and "Mothered" my younger sister. This delivery was the most stressful I have experience (other than my own).
I kept calling my Mom (who was with my sister) and asking how things were going. She kept reporting how well Rachel was handling things. Her baby was born remarkably fast for a first baby, with only 15 minutes ofpushing. I was shocked at that. I pushed for at least an hour with both my kids.
And so my niece, Ariana Lelde Elizabeth joined our family.
What a lovely and very special name. If you have followed my blog for any length of time then I think you would know why the name Lelde is so important to me, a name I even considered giving to my daughter. Lelde was a friend, more like a younger sister of mine who was killed in a tragic car accident. One of the biggest reasons I would hesitate to give this name to my daughter is because our last name is the same as hers was- Grinberga. I somehow wonder if that wouldn't be extremely painful to her mom (who goes to our church) if our daughter were to be Lelde Grinberga. And so I am pleased that Rachel gave her daughter this name, and MY name ( I wonder why she did that. . . ?).
I don't have a picture yet, but when I shall perhaps I can share it.
I love you Lulu, I know you will be a great Mom!
