In just over a week our family is off to the States to visit my parents. We will have lots of fun going out and about with my Mom and Dad, and just being together. I can't wait for the kids to get to spend more time with Grandma and Grandpa.
Daniel is already talking about fishing with Grandpa, and has been talking about it for months. He also knows that Grandma and Grandpa have something to do with an airplane, though I am not quite sure he knows that we have to ride 3 to get to their house :)
After the first two weeks at my parents home we are going to head south. We are planning on visiting several parks and beautiful places. We will be going to Arches National Park, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, The Grand Canyon, and so on. We will even get to see my aunt in Tuscon, I haven't seen her in 18 years!
I don't know if you know that salaries in Latvia are much lower than in the States, and because of that we have to travel as cheap as possible. My Dad has agreed to lend us his car and we have been working for a very long time on housing arrangements. I am very pleased at how God has been arranging all of this and can finally say we have almost every night taken care of. We will be staying at about 5 churches and are even going to stay with some strangers through www.couchsurfing.org. I hope this will be a good experience, and that we will make lots of new friends.
Needless to say I am more then a little worried and stressed about this whole trip. Traveling with kids is hard, and then are huge adventure in the west. What will I do while my husband hikes? Where will my kids sleep during the day? Will everyone actually be true to their word and host us?
My cousin told me to think about Joshua 1:9 (for a different reason), but God really spoke to me through that verse in regards to our trip:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Keep us in your prayers for health and traveling mercies. Amelija and I are trying to recover from colds, and we want her to be well so that her ears won't hurt on the airplane. Thank you dear friend for caring!
Stay tuned for further tales of our wild adventure to the west!
