Thanksgiving

I must say this is the biggest thermometer I have ever seen in my whole life. I told Janis it would be ideal if I had a meat thermometer, to test the turkey and he ran off and said he had a thermometer. I was shocked when he cam back with an 18 inch thermometer. I am not kidding! We ended up overcooking our turkey, but it was still a success.

Saturday we had a house full of guests, eighteen total. We were joined by friend, relatives. Most of us were American, though we were joined by our German friend Tobius, and some Latvian friends too.

I am extremely grateful for my good friend Elina and her fiance Ernests, who came early and helped us get ready in time, peeling potatoes, decorating the table, and that sort of stuff. They are a great pair! You will see some pictures of them in my album, if you take the time to look at it.

We had a wonderful feast, and everyone seemed satisfied. I had so many pies left over. I take after my mom in the going overboard with food. We are like that, we want everyone to be spoiled and have enough. I had made a huge apple pie, the equivalent of 3 normal size ones, four pumpkin pies and a coconut cream pie. The American enjoyed the pumpkin pies, after all it is is traditional. But the Latvians, including my husband aren't too fond of them. . . Oh well.

It was nice to spend time with some seldom seen relatives, as well as with everyone else. We enjoyed hearing the history of Thanksgiving from aunt Eva. After that we each shared what we are thankful for from this year. God has truly been so good to us.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The other day I received a letter from a student in China, she had been in our English camp there, though not in my class. She wrote to tell me that after our team left China she began a journey of coming to know our Savior, and that after attending university she became a Christian and was baptized. I cried as I was able to see that even after nearly six years have passed God shows us that he indeed used us there. She thanked us for coming there and showing her that we were different. Wow!! God is good, so good.

  1. I am so impressed with your thermometer! I don't even have one let alone a ginormous one. You are the coolest. Loved your pictures. I'm so glad you had a good thanksgiving.

Got a little tear hearing about your China student. God is sooooo good!
