New Experiences

Saturday went on a very long bike ride. My husband loves to cycle and he has gone cycling for 2 weeks for the past few summers. We had been invited by a friend of his to spend the weekend at their summer house. Janis had wanted to try going on a longer ride with me. I didn't know if I could do it, but I was fair game.

After the first 10 miles or so my knee started hurting, and from then on that was a continual annoyance. There was one place where I felt I just couldn't go on, we stopped and took some pictures there, and my husband encouraged me. After that, my good friend Elina rode along side of me and I was able to forget my tired legs and ride on.

I am not much of an athlete, and so this was something that was very challenging for me. It showed me that I have more endurance than I knew. I had thought it wouldn't be too difficult. It ended up being very difficult. But I did it. I rode 62 miles in one day!

We were able to enjoy a lovely walk by the sea, as well as some yummy shish kabobs and interesting conversation.

We rode the train home the second day.
All together we rode a total of 62 miles! Wow! I am now feeling normal again, my soreness vanished very quickly. I guess I need to start riding again:)
