Sick Again and Thank You

Today I took Amelija to the doctor. She has a nasty cold right now and an awful cough. I also needed to get the paper which would send us to the children's hospital in Riga to have her eye probed.

Amelija was born with a clogged tear duct and her right eye is always needing to be cleaned. I had hoped it would have resolved itself, but so far that has not happened. We were told to massage it, but nothing seems to be fixing the problem.

The roads were nasty today, we have about 4-6 inches of fresh, soft snow. It is lovely, but hard to get around. After about an hour in the doctor's office I was loading my kids into the car when a man came and said something to me. I thought he asked me, "Do you think I could get my truck past you?" He was driving a small semi. I told him I was just about to leave. Then he started going on and on about my car not being far enough over, and no one getting past, etc. Well, at least I thought that was he was saying. I didn't make any more comments, I just tried to load my kids up quick and move. I was sure there was enough room for a normal vehicle to get past me, and had no idea such a big truck would even try to go through such a small road (especially on a snowy day).

Under our super fluffy snow is a layer of ice that is very slippery and this small road had been left extremely uneven. I tried to drive forward and away so the truck driver could get through. But I got stuck. I couldn't get past one car that was parked ahead of me. The ice and snow pushed me towards the car, and then I would get stuck and could move neither forward nor back.

The truck driver came and started coaching me as to how to get out of my rut and past the car. At first I felt embarrassed and unsure. Then I realized it was really a funny situation. He started saying how this woman had parked her car so badly and said she'd be back in 20 minutes and now no one could get past, etc. I wondered if it was this car he had been talking about all along . . . Finally after much encouraging and advice from this very talkative truck driver, and after my even offering for him to take the wheel and get me out of my mess, I was able to carefully maneuver my way past the car and not get stuck in the snow. YAY God! And thank you helpful truck driver. I didn't get a chance to tell him thanks because once I was moving I was afraid to stop again.
