Before either of my children were born I chose a song to sing to them. I would sing it to them while they were still in my womb, with the hope they would recognize this song after birth to calm them. The songs I chose I intended to be their lullabies. However, not until just recently has Daniel started to ask for me to sing. He didn't used to like it when I would sing to him as he went to bed. I must admit that made me feel sort of sad. But now, he says, "Sing Song." He then wants to hold my hand, and asks for more and more songs. How precious, now I sing both of their lullabies when he asks me to.
Daniel's lullaby is, "All Things Bright and Beautiful" by Cecil F. Alexander.
All things bright and beautiful ,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flow'r that opens.
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How good is God our Father,
Who doeth all things well.
