Godsends

Today it was a sunny morning, and I decided to walk to church. Usually I only walk with Amelija in her pram. But today I decided that since it was early enough to perhaps reach church on time, that I would take Daniel too. He seemed eager to go on a walk, though he has never walked that far before. (An hour walk for me alone, but with him at least 1 1/2 hours)

I soon realized that taking him along had been a big mistake, and it would have been better to have left him with Daddy to drive to church. But it was too late, and I decided in faith to continue on.

I have been thinking a lot of faith lately, and what it means to have faith and deeds in action together. Today I carried on, believing that as God has helped me before in the little things of life that He would do so again!

Today the puddles were all frozen over with a thin layer of ice, Daniel enjoyed breaking their icy surfaces as he stepped on them. I warned him though that where the road was shiny, it was also slippery. He has never experienced ice before, and today he did!! He fell down at least once today and every time he felt the ground become slippery beneath him he would refuse to move forward and whine.

When we had been walking about 15 minutes he wanted me to carry him. I told him, "No, you are too big." Just then God sent a lady our way, who chatted with Daniel. She told him he was a big boy, and could walk on his own two legs, and if he fussed he would wake up his baby sister.

The lady hurried on and we carried on with more whining and "Opa"(up). Then God send a dog our way, who walked ahead of us a bit and distracted Daniel into walking on. Then we made our goal be the next bus stop, so that Daniel could sit in the little "house" and rest. Then we were able to find some rocks to throw in the river as we crossed the bridge. This continued on and on, God kept providing little things to distract Daniel from the boredom of a long walk and we carried on.

Just as we were in need of some major distraction, and I had whispered a prayer in my heart for God to help us get to or destination. . . . Around the turn in the road came a TRACTOR! Now, for those of you who do not know, Daniel LOVES tractors right now. When he saw the tractor his whole face lit up and he rushed on to follow it.

Thank you Lord, that You care about every little detail of our lives. Even things as small as helping me go on a walk with two little ones, and helping us get to our destination with a tired, bored 2 year old. Amen
