For some time our new pastor has been after Janis to once again take over the position of youth leader. When we were married Janis told the church he was going to take a year off, and stay with his wife. The church accepted that. But now that nearly four years have passed people have started teasing him about this VERY long one year of rest.
A couple months back our former pastor, Elmars was asked to pastor another church in Riga. So the youth pastor who was also studying to be a pastor was voted in as the new pastor. He now has way too much work for one man to handle.
Janis has not wanted to again take the position of youth leader. He had got very burn out after 7 years in that position. But people keep asking him, keep urging him, keep prodding him. They also then turn and ask me what I say, and think. As if I were the bad guy, the one keeping him from saying yes.
I have tried to not to be overly enthusiastic in urging Janis into this position when others are present. I really do want him to say yes. But I know that he must make a decision based on what he feels he ought to do and what God wants for him and us. I have told him over and over that I am beside him now, he would not have to do it alone. I will support and help him as much as I can with the kids.
This evening the pastor came and visited us, and Janis agreed to try to again take up the reigns of leading the youth. It sounds like the youth have grown up some and Janis will have little to do- but who knows.
I feel we are the brink of some big changes. I am glad we are moving into more active church ministry. I feel we need to get out of ourselves and our lives and show some concern for others too.
So say a prayer for us, especially for Janis that he would have strength, wisdom and especially peace. Not just peace in this venture, but peace at work. He often gets stressed at work, and it escalates his blood pressure making him feel poorly.
Thanks friends!
