Yay, God!

I don't know if I have let on to you all how we have had a family doctor that I really was not very fond of. I have tried to work on my attitude, wondering if perhaps the problem was me. But I still rather dreaded taking my kids to her. I knew we did not see eye to eye, and so I sort of ignored her. I visited her more often with Daniel, but I wasn't pleased with her service. Now that I have a second child I have gone for monthly check ups even less frequently- I just have not felt the need. And I don't like be reminded about our differeing views on vaccinations.

Last year when Daniel was in the local hospital I really, really liked the pediatrician. I wished she could be our family doctor, but she didn't have a private practice. She was also very inerested in my teaching her English.

A week or so ago we (some friends and I )happened to be talking about Dr. Grantina (the pediatrician at the hospital). My friend said she had read that now Dr. Grantina has a private practice. I decided to look into the matter, and as soon as I could I made the necessary arrangements to switch to this new doctor.

I was a bit apprehensive before our first visit with her, wondering if she really was as great as I remembered her being. I was a bit worried about having to explain our vaccine views as well, assuming I would again be strongly opposed. I prayed a lot about the visit we were to have with the doctor, reminding God that all I wanted was a nice doctor, one I felt I could communicate with.

So this evening was Amelija's 5 month check up with her new doctor, Dr. Grantina. I took along some freshly baked cookies to give our new doctor. The visit was wonderful!!! We were there 40 minutes (at our previous doctor we were in and out of her office in 5 minutes, after a very long wait in the waiting room). She was so friendly to the kids, so considerate of their feelings. I loved how she gave my kids time to warm up to her before she started examining them. She was very open to my alternative vaccine plan. She is just such a nice, sweet, supportive, understanding doctor. I cannot even tell you how THRILLED I am to finally have a pediatrician I feel I can communicate with- and not just be talked at.

Praise God!!
