Sometime this summer the idea came to me that I needed to be teaching girls to cook. I am very often asked to bake something yummy and although I don't mind complying I realized that a woman who knows how to bake is highly asked after. Thus was born the idea of a cooking class.
Deep within my heart also lies the desire to impact girls for Jesus and see them growing in Him. I have always enjoyed mentoring and leading Bible study and so part 2 of my plan was born.
A cooking class with a Bible study is a strange combination. But my plan was that while the food was baking we could study our Bibles.
As wives and Moms we know that putting God into our daily lives involves creativity and a willingness to use the little moments to be with God.
Over the past month or so we have been having our cooking classes and Bible studies. We have been working through the book of Philippians as God has been teaching me through that book for several months now.
I am having so much with the girls, I love sharing recipes with them and hearing their exclamations of delight over the yummy things we make.
I also love digging deeper in the word of God with them and hearing how God is working in their lives.
Teaching a Bible study when my 3 kids are sometimes present is a REAL challenge, but again this is life and as I deal with my kids and the real stresses I face as a Mom I pray that these young ladies see Jesus in me and our family and that somehow the word of God speaks to them through the noise.
I am so excited to get to know these girls better and wanted to share a few pictures from our cooking classes. To follow along on my cooking blog and see what we have been making click here.
