We also ate black cherry gelato- or ice cream. Yummy!
We also stopped to watch a street artist painting. There was a large crowd around him. He had an interesting technique where he layered color after color and then make interesting streaks and strokes to make a lovely scene. When he finished and offered it for 10 euro I said I wanted it. Janis was not pleased saying we didn't have anywhere to put it. But while the artist was at work he had seemed impressed. The painting is very stinky - being painted with that sort of paint. If I had known had smelly I would not have agreed to purchase it. But I am pleased with it nonetheless.

We had another lovely breakfast this morning, not as fancy as the hotel yesterday but still very delicious.
It was supposed to be extremely rainy today and was so in the early hours of the morning- but now later the sun is out. Thank you Lord for this fine weather- it makes walking and carrying this painting MUCH easier. Thanks that you care about the little things in life.
Every baby I see reminds me of my sweet babes at home and makes me miss them.
We had a lovely walk this morning and saw the Pantheon and other famous places. We walked nearly all day and I had to take a lot of breaks to rest. We made it to our next hotel as close to check in time as possible and rested.
We then headed out to find a place to eat our real Italian meal. We compared prices at several places and finally decided on one that had a good price and a lot offered for that price. We each had to choose from one of 4 set menus. The pasta was served first and then the other part of the meal.
I had lasagna. Then beef with potatoes and salad. Followed by tirimisu.
Janis had fettuccine alfredo. Then grilled chicken, fries and salad. Followed by tirimisu.
It was so hard to decide what to order and Janis's alfredo ended up being tastier than my lasagna- though it was also good.
The tirimisu was also good- but not quite what I had expected. I guess it is better not to have any expectations. ( Why can't I remember that?!)
After we ate we walk about the old part of the city surrounding the Colosseum again. Janis wanted to see it lit up after dark and took a lot of pictures.
I was sleepy and tired after our huge supper and just plodded on and on.
I was exhausted by the time we got back to our hotel at 8:30 PM and ready to crash.
Our hotel has lemon trees and an orange tree growing within the gate. We had hot lemonade with a fresh lemon before going to bed. Now that is special!
