Continuing my theme of life in LV, here are a few of the things in Latvian that make me laugh.
Did you know that the things we call toes are called fingers here? There is only one word and therefore you have fingers on your feet, how do you feel about that?
Or how about having feathers on your arms? Those small hairs aren't always called hair here, they are one and the same word for feathers!
One that cracked me up today, and after three years here I heard for the first time was this: "Liquid sleep" or "Runny Sleep." What we refer to as being light sleep, or being a light sleeper is called being a runny, or liquidy sleeper. I found that very amusing since the same word is used when one has an upset stomach, "liquid stomach"
Oh, that makes me laugh too! It made me remember all the funny things I saw in Lativa when I was there. Remember the list we made? My favorite was still the young lady smoking the pipe!! I also need to come visit you to get some real hot chocolate again!! Love you friend :-)
