This evening I wanted to feed Daniel near the tree, so I could enjoy the quiet and the lights. He was so intrigued by the tree and the shining lights and balls that he couldn't concentrate on eating. So I sat him on my lap and he just stared. Then he started "talking" to me about the tree. His conversation in baby language sounded something like a series of "ees" and "eis". But the way he said them and knowing that when he "talks" like that that he is conversing with me, was so precious.
I could tell he was entralled by it all, and he was just content to sit and stare for a while. As I watched him delighting in this scene, something he is seeing for the very first time in his life, tears came to my eyes. God has given me the most precious gift this year, and now our holidays are even more joyful having a baby to see and delight in things with fresh new eyes.
How thankful I am that God allows us to have little moments like these with those we love.
