Today was my last full day of teaching in Riga, then Tuesday I will finish my other class and be altogether done with working in Riga. Tuesday evening my family arrives (Dad, Mom and Rachel) and I can't wait to see them.
Then April 21st I will officially be 30 weeks pregnant, and in Latvia that means you can start your maternity leave, with the government paying for you to stay at home. Isn't that lovely? I feel I need more time at home, as it grows increasingly difficult to go running around so much. I am not exaggerating when I refer to the fact that I must use my feet (though I am not really running)- with walking to the train, from the train, and everywhere else it gets to be a lot of walking, and with my added weight, that is quite tiring.
Spring is here and the garden and outdoors are calling me to come and join them in their yearly growth. I can't wait to do some planting in my garden (nothing serious), just a few vegetables and such.
Today as I walked at the door after work I felt like a landmark had been reached in my life, where I am saying goodbye to my work life and hello to motherhood. It was a rather strange feeling to know I am starting a new phase in my life.
How thankful I am for the way God provides and that I will be able to be at home more and prepare for this new adventure.
One thing I forgot to mention is that in Latvia a woman's maternity leave is before the birth, starting at her 30th week, and also one and half years after that babies birth. So a new mom can stay at home one and half years, be paid for staying home, and also her workplace must give her a job when she returns. I am serious! It is really convenient to have babies in Latvia!
