11 days left!

Just yesterday we were able to finish the great 3 day "True Love Waits" seminar. Like last year I was again in charge of the cafe, it was fun to work together with Janis on that. He was a great assistant! I started baking on Tuesday and baked like crazy all week to supply the cafe with goodies before Friday, when the conference was to start. This year they were celebrating their fifth year in Latvia and so they requested me to make a surprise cake for 250 people. (Thankfully I had 3 great helpers!)

It was great to see God there, I wasn't able to attend many of the lectures because of my need to bake the big cake, but the one I did was really good. I was touched to hear someone passionate about God, encouraging young people to become radical Christians, and wait in their relationships.

Saturday evening Janis was asked to give a short speech about TLW, since he was the main leader for the past four years. He then shared how God has blessed him with me after waiting for such a long time and how it was so worth waiting. How sweet! He then called me in and I was carrying the huge cake (like a wedding cake). Everyone started cheering and clapping- it was rather embarrassing.

The cake was a huge success and 9 hours of baking and decorating was devoured in 20 minutes or so:)

Last Tuesday we had our first house full of people, as the last planning meeting for TLW was held here. We had 25 people here. It was fun though a bit stressful beforehand. We served the local summer favorite, shish kabobs! Or "shashlicks" as it would be said in Latvian pronunciation.

In just a few short days my family will be arriving. I am thrilled. Janis is frantically working on our kitchen, we hope to get it to a presentable stage before they arrive.

The weather has turned springish again, finally. May first it snowed here. It has been raining cats and dogs all day and things are beginning to bloom. It is still rather chilly, and the nights get quite cold. The cherry trees are beginning to blossom and is it very charming.

I am happy to tell you that I have now been hired to work in the International House- Satve this fall. This is a language school in Riga. The one I had most desired to work at as they have excellent teacher development. I taught a test lesson last week and today they gave me the feedback and said they would be glad to have me. This is a real blessing as I will not have to look for work for the fall and will have a more steady position and many growing opportunities! Praise the Lord with us!

What is new in your world? What is brightening your heart or bringing sadness to it today?

With Love,

Elizabeth

PS: I hope to be able to send more pictures soon of True Love Waits, but don't have many at the moment.
