Now nearly three weeks have passed and our little Daniels Aksels is getting into some routines. He has such an adorable smile, with dimples in his cheeks, like Janis. He usually smiles in his sleep. He is eating about two times during the night, so I do get some sleep. He also takes long naps during the day, he especially enjoys sleeping outside in his pram. Then he takes four hour naps. He has had a few baths, and though the first time he didn't like it, he has started to really enjoy them. He splashes around, looking like he is is swimming, cute.
These weeks we have anxiously been trying to get all of his documents in order so that we can receive the government financial support. Since I'm an US citizen this process has taken longer then it would for other Latvian born babies. Praise God we were finally able to get his birth certificate today and get all of these things moving forward.
Soon we will be going to America and therefore we must get his passport. Today we needed to get his picture taken. The baby must have its eyes open, its head straight and you must see his chin. How on earth do you get a 3 week old baby to open its eyes on demand and sit with its head straight? By the time we reached the photo salon he was sound a sleep and did not appreciate being woken up. He would not open his eyes for anything and ended up being grouchy and more sleepy. So Janis said I should walk around and come back later. I spent several hours walking and doing a variety of little things until he finally had his eyes open enough for the picture. We then got the photographer to take his picture laying down on a white background rather than sitting up and thankfully we got at least a couple shots in before he started fussing. Oh the adventures of having a baby, especially one that is going to travel abroad so soon.
