May 22

As the weather warms and the days grown longer and more beautiful, we are enjoying being outside. On Mother's Day we rented a canoe and went for a great ride on the river.
Over the weekend we were with some friends of ours at a nature park. There we learned all kinds of interesting things about the habits of honey bees. Those who desired then could go and see the bees at work. I didn't go, but Janis did.
After the guided tour we all played mini golf, that was fun. It had been a very long time since I had played, and was fun to play again. It was altogether a fun day with friends.
As the weeks slowly tick by for the time for the baby to arrive (we are now at 35 weeks) I continue to spend time in my garden. Janis' aunt insisted we need a greenhouse, so Janis made me one. I am excited to be able to have a warm place to grow tomatoes. (They don't grow very well outside). Yesteday Janis' aunt came and helped me buy and plant the tomatoes. I am already eagerly awaiting a bountiful harvest and being able to can some tomato sauce and other tomato products.
Besides the yard work I am working on a baby quilt, washing baby clothes and trying to understand everything I need to purchase to be ready for the baby. I feel quite clueless at times, wondering what all is really needed to care for a new baby.
We had a visit with the midwife yesterday, and it is such a blessing that she is a Christian and talks so much about faith. I have worried at times what will happen if she is busy when my labor starts. She said we can trust God with this as we can with the little details in our lives. God so often arranges such little things for us, answering our prayers for seemingly unimportant things. He cares about this and will take care of this and we need only trust Him. Thank God for a godly midwife.

  2. Hi Elizabeth! You may not remember be, I used to go to church in Harlan, and I know the pastor (your dad) very well. I have been keeping up with your blogs, and they seem very interesting. I have tried and tried to figure out how to contact you thru email , to keep up. It's very interesting to see how you are over there, and how different it is here from in the states. I haven't been back to Harlan for awhile, but I still have relation there. I try to get back every now and then. I will keep reading your blogs. Take care.
